Reiki
Often dismissed as “woo-woo,” Reiki is in fact one of the most studied energy-based healing modalities. Studies have noted changes in heart rate variability, cortisol levels, and pain perception following treatment.
Rooted in Japanese tradition, Reiki is a hands-off practice where the practitioner channels universal life force energy to support the recipient’s return to energetic balance. The word Rei-ki combines “Rei” (universal) and “Ki” (life energy), reflecting its core belief in energy as a foundation of vitality.
Now used in NHS trusts and integrative clinics, Reiki is gaining recognition as a low-risk, non-invasive therapy that activates the parasympathetic nervous system and supports deeper somatic awareness.
